I am using it to play a Metamorphosis Alpha style game. Working from the concept and a quick sketch of a starting location, I am running a PbP game.
It has worked so far. Of course the pace is slow enough anything could have worked. The difference is that, since I also don't know in advance what is there and will happen, it remains fun for me too.

I think it is more of an idea seed than anything else. If you already have an idea and want things to go your way all the time, don't use it. I use it because I don't want to know everything ahead of time. I like when it surprises me and something unexpected comes from it. Deriving logical results from unusual rolls is fun for me.
