Chaosium has done this for years now.
I realize they need to come out with a new edition once in a while just like everybody else, only I am unhappy to say every new edition since, well, ages ago, has just been a rehash of the previous edition.
It comes across as dishonest, which makes me sad. I really would like to love Chaosium unreservedly, but to do so, they should admit the game is still in it's second edition (or third, at most).
Feel free to repackage, but don't increase the version number, especially the major increment! It only leads existing customers to believe they stand to gain something (anything) by "upgrading", which is less true for CoC than for, well, all other lines I know of!
So, as a game, it certainly is a five star product.
But as an edition, there is no reason whatsoever to upgrade. That's a two star hack job.

This isn't fair, really. I agree that the 6th Edition had little substantial change from the
5.5 Edition, but there has been considerable development from the
5th Edition. Most significantly, the chapter on Mental Illness has been substantially expanded and modernised.
