No, it's not disingenuous, I actually meant what I wrote.
My point was that the problem identified would not be new to 4E, it could just as easily arise in 3E. In 3E it's not because of explicit roles, but implicit roles, which you yourself describe as existing (by "griefing" about alignment, for instance).
Obviously there's no need to "rabidly" defend every point. Of course, that's not what I'm doing. Did you miss the part where I said I'm not even buying the book?
