Great review, and I agree on pretty much all points. I love the setting and think the authors have done a great job of conveying the feel of the world. I'm less enamoured of the system. The 2d10 plus skill (1-5) seems very random to me (the difference between a skill of 1 and a skill of 5 is a difference of only 4% vs. 20% of the final range of outcomes). I do love the corruption mechanic, but getting a few re-rolls doesn't seem like it would balance out the innate randomness of the system enough to satisfy me.
