Re: [RPG]: Wizards Presents: Worlds and Monsters, reviewed by Failed Saving Throw (4/
That was not a review, its a rant. I have seen forum posts with more substance.
Worlds & Monsters was a good purchase for me. Nice art, lots of fun fluff and interesting design notes for the price of a movie ticket and parking ($13 on Amazon with free shipping).
I am Planescape fan and I like Ooze Mephits and all the weird Para-Planes, but I understand that most of the planar info was just background fluff and rarely visited. The 4e ideas on the Shadowfell, Fey, Astral Sea and even Elemental Chaos mean that you can set low level characters into these settings and scale an adventure appropriately for them.
I always enjoyed the symmetry of the Great Wheel and especially how Sigil and the Outlands and the Border Towns all interacted. That was some of the best stuff TSR ever pubished. But outside of Planescape, the Great Wheel was much less useful.
