Re: [RPG]: Wizards Presents: Worlds and Monsters, reviewed by Failed Saving Throw (4/
This review was interesting, but it fails as a review of the product in question. It isn't a review of Worlds and Monsters, but of DnD 4th ed (or at least the reviewer's impression of what that will be).
While there is a brief description of the contents of the book, most of the review focuses on the changes that will be made in 4th ed, but without really telling us how these changes are described in the book. Is the information detailed or superficial? Do they explain why the changes were made etc. Having read the review, I still don't know whether Worlds and Monsters will give me a good idea of what 4th ed will be like. Does the product successfully accomplish its intended goal, to inform the customer of the nature of the new D20?
I'll agree, the book is a load of useless rubbish that WOTC should be giving out free at conventions, not charging an arm and a leg for, but some people might actually be interested in finding out about 4th ed and may be curious as to what kind of info they'd be getting if they (were crazy enough to) buy this book.
Finally, using language like bullshit and fuck in a review doesn't annoy me, but it does tend to reduce the value of the review in the eyes of many. It does make it seem more of a rant. Remove those words and the review seems far less biased.
