Like Midnight Foundation, I already have a copy of 1st ed. I'm very impressed with it and it's on my "must run" list. Plus, because I bought a cheapo PDF I'm quite happy to put a little more money into this game. Heck, normally I'd gladly spend $5 to preview a game and then decide whether it's worth buying. I'd own about the same number of books but they would all be awesome.

Anyway.

One question: Mechanically, is much changed from the original edition? In reading that volume I was a bit worried that some of the monster features (particularly the ones that added wiggle dice to attack rolls) were going to be a bit overpowering. Is there any tweaking of mechanics based on field-testing? Or is the book mainly filled with more setting crunch?

Curiously yours,

Scorp.
Thanks!

We basically took the errata and the comments we had from the first edition, and rounded this book out so it's a full-blown ORE corebook with everything you need to play between the covers. We clarified some things which needed it, expanded the "how to run this game" sections for the GM dramatically, and generally fleshed the mechanics out a bit more where they were thin or klonky. The way monster bonding works is different now, and simpler. As a purely cosmetic change (and something I'd been kicking myself for not having done), the 'Attention' stat gets renamed 'Brains' and the Wits stat gets named 'Face'. This keeps the 'stats as bits' things consistent, and makes calling a called shot a bit more amusing when you can say "I'm going to punch him right in the brain" and alternately, "Please! Not in the Face!"

Plus, Greg contributed two sections on running and playing games packed with table time kung-fu.

There are some other things... but I'm not super lucid right now. Haven't slept in 48 hours, and I've got pain meds doing kooky things to my brain meat.

And something I've meant to ask you for ages- What the heck happened to Kid'Thulhu and the Defenders of Arkham?
