I was just looking at the company's website again and downloaded the free Machines of War pdf. In it, I found the following:

XENOLOGY
Science 4 or Arts and Culture 4 (depending on choice)
You have dedicated much time to acquiring information about
alien life forms, culture and technology. When you take this
training you may select either ‘Arts and Culture’ or ‘Science’ as
your Xenology skill. From then on you may use that skill to make
Xenology rolls.
For example, you find an object you believe to be alien. You
selected ‘Arts and Culture’ as your Xenology skill, the GM
therefore allows you to make an ‘Intelligence + Arts & Culture’ roll
to know more about the object.
If there aren't any aliens involved in the setting, what the heck does this skill do?
