Thanks for the reference. I did find him in the end. He gets about a paragraph of text and apparently nobody knows where he's from. Given this alien's abilities of adaptation (mostly only hinted at) I don't think this'll be a playable race anytime soon. I can't honestly say I recall any other alien references in the rest of the book though, beyond the ruins on Venus I think it was which are apparently uninhabited. Maybe there will be more in the future.
