I do want these reviews to be useful to readers in determining whether a given game would suit their play style or not, so I try to give sufficient context and explain my reasons for a given score.
That said, I am glad some people are doing well playing games I didn't enjoy, just like I love some games that they may not like. I find it reassuring that we have variety in the hobby. As for
Burning Empires in particular, there were certainly some extremely interesting features about it, not the least being the quality of the customer service from the publishers, and it is a beautiful book. I'm glad it has fans, even if it's not for every gamer.
