As you can tell, his reviews are harshly critical, but they're certainly more detailed than Mr. Davies'.

True (woot me!) although in fairness the chapter by chapter detailing I'm doing makes for quite a 20-page review. Even inside a given chapter, one of the things about D&D is that it can be hard to get into it a little without getting into it in super detail because of its rules complexity. So I completely understand the dilemma of not knowing how much to really delve into the rules specifics in a review like this one.
In fact, once I'm done I was going to boil it down into a RPG.net review myself, and I've been having to think hard about how do you do that without having the review be just your opinions or having it be so long and complicated that it's not really right for a RPG.net review format. And D&D is one of those games that people are pretty religious about, if you just pull out specific examples - one power you don't like out of the 300 and that you think illustrates a common 4e failing - it gets rule laywered to death by the rogue's gallery etc.
So while I also would have liked a bit more substance to this 4e review, I do cut the OP a good bit of slack; from doing it myself I know it's not a trivial task.
And in my chapter by chapter, I've gotten through Combat and will do Rituals this evening! Enjoy!
