This sounds like something I'd be interested in checking out, because it sounds fun and straightforward, but I have to say I'm a little surprised that the reviewer finds the combat system so unique when it's just about exactly the same way Tunnels & Trolls has been handling combat since the '70s. Four-fifths of the class list -- Warrior, Wizard, Rogue, Warrior-Wizard -- is straight out of 5th ed. T&T.

The review doesn't say anything about it being a T&T retro-clone (I'm not sure anyone's even tried to do one of those), but is that part of the game's intent? How big of an influence was T&T on its development?
