I've played
Scion because the GM and players were fun, but I was very unimpressed with the game. I too recommend alternatives; My favourite is
Legends Walk! - Truth & Justice Ed., but the same publisher,
Silver Branch Games, also have a native edition of
Legends Walk! that uses their own LODE system, as well as a another related game,
The Arsenal of Heaven (a sort of cross between
Scion and
Weapons of the Gods in terms of theme).
I also agree with the
Mutants & Masterminds suggestions, boosting the power level as needed (perhaps 12 to 15). Another possibility is the Tri-Stat system as used in
The Authority RPG, which uses 12-sided dice instead of the d10s used in the
Silver Age Sentinels version of superheroics.
