It may seem like nothing more than a shameless plug, but…I am happy to announce the revised The Phoenix Barony setting for the Labyrinth Lord RPG. This is my own light-hearted vanilla high fantasy setting and subsequent adventures. There is enough information to supply you with a backdrop for adventures, but not so much information that you can’t possibly remember it all, or feel constrained by it.
Labyrinth Lord is a retro-clone of old Basic/Expert D&D, and thus The Phoenix Barony (and its supplements) is compatible with that game as well. With minimal work, it can also be used with The Basic Fantasy RPG, AD&D, OSRIC, C&C or any classic old school based high fantasy RPG.
This revised edition of The Phoenix Barony streamlines the former edition a little, dumping some of the boring stuff, and focusing more on the fun useful stuff. These products are PDF only, simply because they are rather short and printer friendly, so they won’t cost much to print out and collate into a nice binder, where you can organize them as you like.
ALL of these documents are available FREE! However, some of the more detailed ones also come in a “Donation” version. . If you enjoy them, and would like to see more of the same, please consider purchasing the donation version. By purchasing the donation version you are casting a vote to see this line continued.

Currently available:
-The Phoenix Barony
This core document gives an overview of the light-hearted high fantasy setting, The Phoenix Barony. Focusing on the fun stuff, and keeping the boring stuff brief, this setting is designed for playing in, not making you feel like you are in history class. You get adequate concise information on the geography, history, politics, and religion of the area. You also get a map and full Gazetteer of all the major land features and settlements, filled with plenty of adventure hooks and inspirational ideas. Finally you get a complete list of all the major NPCs in the barony, along with full Labyrinth Lord stat blocks. With enough information to get you going, but not so much as to be overbearing, there is plenty of room for the game master and players to move around, and make this setting their own.
-The Tathor Gazetteer
This document goes on to further detail the northeast quarter of the Phoenix Barony and provides a more fleshed out area to place and run your adventures. The town of Tathor is completely detailed and mapped, along with statistics of all the major personalities residing there. This makes a perfect base town for further adventures. You also get maps and details of the Hamlet of Isabelle, and the Village of Jub. All the terrain features and interesting locations are described, giving you dozens of adventure hooks you can develop and showing all of the places where official Phoenix Barony adventures will take place.
-The Legend of Jub Jub Lake
This Labyrinth Lord adventure takes place in the area detailed in The Phoenix Barony Setting and the Tathor Gazetteer. When a giant fish, the Black Leviathan, starts swallowing all the men who dare to fish on Jub Jub Lake, the village is in dire peril. If this wasn’t bad enough, Goblins are attacking the village simultaneously! This small fishing village is in desperate need of heroes to save them, and uncover the mystery of what is going on. A level 3rd-5th adventure.
-Lost Daughter
This short introductory adventure for Labyrinth Lord RPG takes place in the area detailed in The Phoenix Barony setting and the Tathor Gazetteer. The PCs want only to travel peacefully through the dark Fenwood to get to Tathor, but, the pleas of a dying man take them on an adventure to rescue his kidnapped daughter. A 1st level adventure.
-The Phoenix Barony Cover
This full color cover can be printed up to slip into the front of the binder used for collecting all your Phoenix Barony supplements and adventures.
-Players Guide to…The Phoenix Barony
Let’s face it; you love your setting more than your players. They generally just want to get together and play the game, not listen to you drone on and on about the history and backdrop of the adventure. This one page document gives the players enough information to get a feel for the setting without beating them to death with boring crap! Print this up, or email it to them before you play, and when you get together you can get right to the monster slaying!
-COMING SOON!
OK, probably not as “SOON” as I would like, but there are several more adventures in the process of getting finished. Dragon’s Head Peak is very close to completion. Vermin of Tathor, Cats & Rats, and Nindoo the Insane are all in the early stages of development. Those will wrap up the adventures that take place in the locations described in the Tathor Gazateer. After that I will visit Kragagor or Frunder’s Rest for a Gazetteer and subsequent adventures in those locations. Of course, the motivation and funding to continue this line depends on the feedback of those who download the products (and the number of people who donate to the cause).
