(1) is obviously true but also meaningless - 3rd edition would have fit this criteria years after the core books were released. It would certainly be appropriate to evaluate the game after a year or two with the materials provided. (2) would be meaningful but it is obviously false. The three core books, the DM screen, and supplementary materials have been published and played by many groups, with admittedly mixed results, but those results have been shared and discussed enough for people to get an idea of whether they like the game. Can you clarify your statement so I can understand it?

Well, as he was summarizing my review, I can tell you what I meant rather than letting you folks argue over what you think I meant.
There is nothing necessary missing. The closest thing to a deficiency is that the magic items list is a little tight when you are looking for items of a particular level that are useful to your specific group of players (Adventurer's Vault has helped that nicely).
I just meant that we are excited to see the new classes, races, and powers coming down the line because we are enjoying the game and, so far, it is well-designed and balanced so we aren't as fearful of unbalanced new editions as we were in previous editions. The way they've paid attention to the math seems to have helped game balance immensely.
