Re: [RPG]: Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Dungeon Master's Guide, reviewed by Jestern
I'd have to lean towards the reviewers defensive attitude. Not because I like/dislike/even know anything about D&D 4E. But because some of his comments are definitely (from a 3rd person perspective), valid.
I mean, come on, if you had agreed with the reviewer, I really do not believe that you would be saying "you need to preface all of your comments with 'in my opionion'...." That it is the reviewer's opinion is axiomatic. This doesn't need to be said. In fact, the best, most well-liked reviewers on this site don't use that expression.
Sergio is running around talking about non-consensual when that's not the right word for the context, Menchi is seeming very defensive for 4E, and buzz admitted Yo Master's point only to respond with a 'but still!'
Seriously, you guys are all coming off as pretty defensive. Based on what I've read elsewhere, and 'listening' to your responses, I'd agree it seems that Dustin/Jesternario is a little skewed in some of his understandings of what exactly constitutes Role-Playing and/or whether the DMG invokes it. But I'd also say that the review was not some rant of vitriol that many others have been. I'd suggest you consider this before you post against him again. The review wasn't bad, and you 'sound' defensive.
