MurderMunkey: The answer is "Yes!" The book has been at the printers for the last few weeks being reprinted and should be back in stock at IPR at the end of next week. Some big retailer orders wiped out the remaining stock over the last few days.
Weasel Fierce: OK, here's how it works. The GM puts Threat Tokens on the table to initiate an encounter. So, say it's 4 Tokens like you said.
You then roll for "Dominance" to see who sets the range or gets an Ambush. So, do the Aliens or the PCs get an Ambush? And, if not, who sets the range, one of the players or the GM?
Combat then happens in rounds. At the start of each round the players and GM declare what they are doing (for a PC is it fighting using FA, or something not-fighty using NFA; for the GM you always use AA -- Alien Ability -- no matter what you are doing).
Everyone rolls a d10 and you act in order of high to low successes then high to low failures. On your turn you do what you wanted to and describe it -- so, if it's killing then the PC removes a Threat Token from the pile allocated to the encounter and describes how they killed those <rolls dice> many aliens.
The number of enemies is determined solely by how many you rolled. Don't hold dearly in your mind that there are only 4 bugs or whatever. There are as many as the PCs kill. You can even describe NPCs killing more if it fits the fiction. If you roll one, then maybe it was a crappy one or like the Oliphant in LOTR, in any case it's just one. If you roll 97? Then you just killed a load of them. How did you do it? Describe it to me. I want to know.
When the last Threat Token is removed from an encounter then the encounter ends (there are other ways an encounter can end, but that's not important here). So they were the last things killed, at least for this encounter.
It really lets the GM just pace the game very easily, and it's really intuitive to use.
Hope that helps.
