Thanks for a great review and a blast from the past. I hope that there are more on the way.

I think the speculation that Dark Sun is the first classic setting heading for a 4E conversion is based on the fact that wizards have (or are in the process of) re-release of Troy Dennings ‘Prism Pentad’ which was the TSR flagship novel series for dark sun. I’m not sure this is the best thing in the world though, as it was one of the worst series for changing the status quo of the world over the heads of GMs that were running it, most notably killing off the vast majority of the Sorcerer Kings, who for my money were one of the more colourful groups of villains produced in the 2E era.

I would rather see an updated version of this version of the setting, rather than some of the strangeness that was introduced with the revised set. I think that speculation that the PHB 3 will have 'psychic' as a power source strengthens the rumours, and I think that 4E does make a good fit for the setting.
