One way to think of the ubases that (might, haha) prevent frustration is to think of them as pedestals only. The rules included with the box (in their defense) do say to place the mini on the ubase, not click it in. Maybe cuz they figured out that not all of the figures do click in and none reliably.

Try this:

To turn the ubase clock: *While keeping the figure on the table*, use your thumb and index finger to push down on the figure's base (to "lock" it - and therefore the health number - into the ubase) and then turn while keeping a fingertip from your other hand near one of the protruding handles. That seemed to do the trick for me.

Unfortunately this would probably not work too well in a crowded area. Also I didn't trust my 4-year-old son to do this reliably. He's a little cheating punk if you let him, haha.
