Is there even a real word to describe this?

I am busily trying to complete an Ultimate Dungeon Delve type module for playing a gathering of gaming friends this weekend and one of the encounter areas occurs at a walkway between the main castle and tower/keep that stands apart from the main castle. Usually there is a completed wall between the main castle and the tower and you can access the tower by walking along the top of the wall. Same thing here but there is no wall...

So, is there a term for this? Some better way to describe it? The lack of good description is killing me here...

A bridge?

A catwalk?

Thought of both and am currently using bridge in my description...

My wife guffawed at the concept of catwalk. "Catwalks are for models not ( couldnt hear this word, it could have been heroes but could have been zeroes...)"

It's called an "arched bridge".

Okie Doke.

Here I was hoping a magical term like crenelations would apply.

Tnx Ialdabaoth

How about "A high, narrow concourse of stone arcing between the castle's outer wall and inner keep."

I'd probably call it an elevated walkway if I couldn't find ye olde term for it.

Re: Is there even a real word to describe this?

Actually, it is called a catwalk (an elevated walkway), but the term has come to mean a form of stage as well (and if you think about it, that stage is an elevated walkway). These days they call them 'skybridges' so as not to confuse people.
