Does removing Supernatural Martial Arts as a mechanic and a concept break anything irrevocably in Exalted? It doesn't seem like it would but I'm not a system expert.
Doesn't meaningfully affect Solars, Lunars, Abyssals or Infernals.
Dragon-Blooded lose access to higher-tier Charms via their CMA. The Wyld Hunt will become less of a threat. You may want to give Immaculate Dragon-Blooded something to make up for this, though with the Defend Other/With One Mind combination in the game, DB teams do fairly well against solo Celestials.
Sidereals lose access to any Charms outside their native set and Astrology effects. Sidereal characters become less versatile in combat. Sidereal elder NPCs lose the ability to destroy the world via badly written SMA.
As it seems to mainly affect Sidereals and Dragonblooded I guess dropping Super MA won't really be a problem in my game. I'm not using anything but Solars as player characters.

A trick allowing a group of Dragon-Blooded to form a defense ball to spread defensive Charm costs out and blunt the effect of focus fire, to keep the entire group alive longer.

Is this a complicated trick or is it as straight forward as it sounds (as I'm about to have a Wyld Hunt descend on a reasonably compotent group of Celestial Exalts)?

It is explicitly spelled out in the (new) text of Within One Mind, namely, all members of the link have Guard Other actions on all other members of the link. The Guard Other action then states that for each person beyond the first guarding a particular ward you get +1 DV (to a max of 5 guarders total). So, there you have it: everyone uses stacked PDV with a non-Charm bonus on top, and at any time anyone can still activate a Charm to bat the attack away if they don't think the DV will do it alone.

Not really. Without CMA there are easily attainable super-attack Combos, especially for Solars and Abyssals, that will blow right through their defense. Killing DBs is the main use for offensive Combos in 2e.
