Jon just got me to thinking about just how much I want to see Scrollworks keep going. Christian's fine periodical, that he sweats bullets over to maintain the quality it has achieved over the years, has never failed to provide the thoughtful, informative and entertaining content it's noted for. Hey, I don't even do gaming and I enjoy reading it. Plus and this is a HUGE plus, Scrollworks and Christian have been an incredible supporter of freelancers, both for artists and writers. I will always have a huge soft spot for Scrollworks as it provided me with my first paid commission and from that day on, Christian and I have had an awesome working relationship that I wish I could say I shared with all the Art Directors I've worked with. And he's one hell of a nice guy to boot. If you're reading this and you haven't had a chance to check out Scrollworks yet, please immediately go to www.scrollworkspress.com and enjoy. You'd be doing us all a big favour by supporting Scrollworks.
Christian was also the first person to publish some of my work as well plus I'm a subscriber. I don't game as much as I used to but I still enjoy getting it every month in the mail.
I'm currently working on a few pieces for Christian for when he gets back around to bringing back Scrollworks. And, like Jon said, if you haven't taken a look at SP you really owe it to yourself to buy and issue or two. You're not only supporting amateur game magazines but also other freelance artists and writers.

If I had a PayPal Account, I'd d@mn sure get some of the back issues.
Shoot, hearing from ya'll, I'd like to freelance for the folks. (One day, when my skills are up.)

I've always enjoyed working with writers and artists and have tried, at all times, to be as fair as possible. Getting new art and articles in my box is such a thrill!
I'm getting a handle on the finances so that when I re-emerge I will be able to manage the business side more effectively. Just as important is the fact that I really need a break. The monthly deadline on top of regular life stress has been a bit much.
It'll take a while, but SP will be back.

How cool to see SP here. They were one of the first people I sent a story to when I decided I would try to write stories again. (I sent them one of my first attempts, which turned out to be crap so I don't blame them for telling me to try again when my skills improve)
Hopefully I plan to, in the interum its good to see them still up and about.

You just gotta love what has to be, in my opinion, one of the classiest small-press I have ever seen. And just because they were the first group to really say "yeah, we'll put your name in print" has nothing to do with it .
