[Battletech] I need some parts ID'd...

I was just going through the counters in the boxes I bought second-hand last year, and found some that I have no idea what the source is.
  • A bunch of "smoke" like counters: I assume CityTech 1, which has Fire rules.
  • Horizontal faction identification counters, some Clan identification counters, and a few others of a different design than the ones that I believe come from Battletech 2nd edition. In here is what looks like a Federated Commonwealth, too. These are the counters that, once upon a time, went in front of the card standup 'mechs. (What other boxes had these?)
  • This is a weird one for me, as I have no idea where it would come from: a bunch of Elemental counters. They're about the same size as the ID markers, but with a picture of a green Elemental.
  • And lastly, in the set of 'mechs that looks like it came from Reinforcements 2, there's 2 Loki and a Dragon (not Grand Dragon, but just Dragon). This is mostly a curiosity for me. My assumption is the Dragon was in the original list, despite (apparently) not being in TR 3050, and that the guy I'd bought these from had acquired a second Loki from elsewhere.

Can anyone help me out with knowing where these came from?

oh, and if anyone can, I'd love to know how many of which 'mech design came with BattleTech 2nd and CityTech 1st.

Re: [Battletech] I need some parts ID'd...

The elementals sound like the ones from Citytech 2nd Ed. IIRC, both Citytechs came with smoke and fire counters as well.

The faction tokens are mysterious indeed, since the only box I ever had with them was 2nd Ed Btech. The Dragon could've come from Reinforcements I which is the only set that had it until they did 4th Ed, but I seem to remember the stand-ups from that being wonky. There was the Fourth Succession War Battlepack, though, and I'll be damned if I remember what came with that.

Pics would help, and I'll dig through some of my stuff later.

Check out boardgamegeek.com, too- by starting with a boxed set, you can see what games came with what parts.

I *think* the Elemental counters might've been with Clantroops.

I think it was 2 of each 'mech design in the boxes you're asking about, but I can double check.

Far as I know, the guy I bought these from never had CityTech 2nd. I've got 5 counters that look flamey, but they're faction-ID sized, and even printed like that - would those be flame markers, then?

Pics may be forthcoming I've organized things, and I do have a camera. I'll have to see if I can find a spot to photo the things I'm thinking about.

Sadly, they don't seem to have parts inventories for the boxes I think they may have come with.

BattleForce 1 didn't happen to come with any faction IDs, did it?

I just won it in an Ebay lot, so I can take a look when I get home.

Re: [Battletech] I need some parts ID'd...

Ah, I've now uploaded a picture of the counters to BoardGameGeek.

Linky

The ones I called "Style 1" and the "smoke" and "fire" counters all have white back, the Style 2, Clan, and Elemental ones have brown (unprinted) backs.

I also found that I have 3 each of Clan Ghost Bear, Clan Wolf, Clan Jade Falcon, and Clan Smoke Jaguar.

Re: [Battletech] I need some parts ID'd...

Those fire and smoke counters look like the ones that were in the old edition of Battletech that I had back in the 1980s. There were rules in there for setting fire to forest hexes and stuff.

The vertical style of faction markers is what was in there, too. Obviously, there were no clan ones back in those days. It was all Liao, Davion, etc. and mercenary companies.

The Clan Ghost Bear, the Elemental, the (I can't remember who that one is for) one that looks like a chaos symbol with a red R, the one below it that's a white eye surrounded by green and the one with a helmet and lances (that you have labelled as "horizontal style") are all present and correct in my copy of Battletech Reinforcements 2. Along with markers for other Inner Sphere houses, mercenary companies and the other clans.

Thanks, Cultist. That was my suspicion on the matter.

Oh, and my Battletech Reinforcements 2 does indeed include 2 Lokis and 1 DRG-1N Dragon. The Lokis are a darkish blue-grey and the Dragon is green.

Re: [Battletech] I need some parts ID'd...

The Shuriken with the R in it was Redjack Ryan's logo, and the Eyeball was for the Oberon Confederation; both were bandit kingdoms wiped out during the clan invasion. Cultist of Sooty is correct that the fire and smoke counters are from the 2nd Ed Box set.

I never had Reinforcements 2 (I was into the minis end of things by then, and could never look back), which would explain why I'd never seen those.
