I wouldn't change Goodner's writeup, except one of the things I found fun in the movie was the idea of other human "races." The Furians and Elementals were the only two named, though the Necromongers seem to have been around long enough and have altered themselves enough to maybe qualify. But concerning Riddick...

The Furians are all but extinct. They were the only known race to stand against the Necromongers' genocidal conquest, and it was prophesized that one of them would kill the Lord Marshal, the Necromonger's supreme leader. Because of this, after the Furian homeworld was destroyed the remaining Furians were hunted down and eliminated. It is calculated that not all the surviving Furians have found.
What little is known of the Furians shows them to be an aggressive, willful people with strict societal laws. If raised outside of their culture, we suspect they would become dark and solitary creatures, respecting no law accept their own passions.
