If Unsane wanted to be better understood, he could have chosen to be a bit more eloquent in his post himself. Apart from that, I didn't find James' answer so particularly vitriolic. "Piss off" has about the connotation here of "Get a life", which is where James hits the nail on the head; someone who is filled with hate because a product line doesn't appear should learn that there are more important things than RPGs.

My respect for James Wallis is quite large, and his putting a little fanboy with mixed-up priorities in his place is certainly not diminishing it. You must have noticed BTW that neither Unsane or mr. Wallis are "engaging in more argument" as you call it; it is you who are making a soap opera out of it.

Whymme
I interjected my opinion that I thought his comment was less than appropriate. Others responded, so I did too. I'm not any more responsible for this than any one else responding. My point about "more arguement" means Unsane said something that could be considered an engagement in arguement (though I'm skeptical this was his intent), Wallis responded like it was an arguement (i.e., the "more" part). And when I say arguement, I mean in the sense that it was a negative exchange, rather than this sort of arguement of points.

Anyway, my opinion is that if someone reads something with out knowing its context, and it is vague, then they should either ignore it or ask for clarification. I disagree with your assessment of internet communication. I also disagree that that statement is harmless and appropriate, considering the nature of the internet.

Anyway, since the only matters to discuss now, as far as I can tell, are matters of opinion on what is appropriate netiquette for different people, I will let the matter stand. Feel free to make your points, but I agree that the matter isn't of dire importance (but yes, worth mentioning).

Ummmmm. . .people? I wasn't serious.

Wow. I really didn't intend this to happen. Oops. I guess it's difficult to detect sarcasm over the internet. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Now everyone, let's take a deep breathe and calm down. It's a roleplaying game. I realize that. Am I mildly disappointed that the game is not going to be out? Yes. Am I really filled with hate? No.

Once again, apologies for starting that.

It's true, you know... And worst : it's the one language in wich gramatic rules ares designed to make speakers sound cleverer (eh ! I know that ! I'm speaking French better than you all ! Ha ! Me French-speaking swiss man !... Hum... Sorry... Too much beer.)

(However, if Bloodlust isn't published in English or doesn't see a second edition in French you have all to agree that it 's not very important, nee ?)

Hatred is a transitive emotion. Like an arrow, it is intrinsically pointed at something. What do you think Unsane's allegedly satiric hatred was implicitly pointed at? And "hate" is a big word. Lots of implication in a statement of any kind of hatred.

The statement "I am filled with hate" -- not much room to judge whether that's sarcasm, is there? Not much context. Unsane: not noted as being one of the internet's great masters of subtle humour. And, as previously noted and discussed all over the place including this site, one of the reasons I'm leaving the games industry is that I'm fucking sick of fucking fanboys with no fucking sense of fucking proportion. Case in point, Kintara.

So I'm not allowed to call a twerp a twerp, is that it? Fans can throw all the shit they like at professionals, and the moment a professional moves to wipe some of it out of their eye, suddenly they're "a bitterness black hole"?

There's no need to further piss on an already ass-wretched excuse for a civilization. Please think before combining people whose Bitching Switches have no setting between "off" and "really damn high"!

Actually James, I was just refering back to Jason Sartin's post. I don't blame you a bit. The worst thing about this hobby is that the twerps outnumber the people worth knowing by a land slide. That's the main reason I've never followed through on all my pipe dreams. I don't want to deal with the idiots.

It's sad to see you so bitter. But knowing what a decent fellow like you must have gone through is what makes it sad.

It doesn't get any better outside the games hobby. Certainly not in mainstream writing. You'll just get to deal with a new flavor of the same brand of psychotic fuckwit there.

Maybe there's a field without psychotic fuckwits, but I don't know what it is. It's certainly not software development, I'll tell you that.

If you state a positive opinion, or create anything, there are parasitic shit-ticks like that who will attack and try to suck your blood, because they cannot create, and cannot express themselves in any other way.

You're wrong. Life is better outside the games hobby. I've been a reasonably mainstream writer (I still get fanmail for non-gaming books I wrote ten years ago, under a pseudonym, for a company that no longer has a fiction division), I've worked on high-profile magazines in kook-heavy genres (Fortean Times, Bizarre, etc.), I've edited lines of fiction based on fan-happy subjects like Dr Who and Judge Dredd, I wrote regularly for the highest-selling broadsheet newspaper in the UK, I used to be a TV presenter...

Trust me, I have seen the worst that the world outside the games hobby can produce, and I can tell you the only psychotic fuckwits more psychotic and more fuckwitted than gamers are Marvel and DC fans, hardcore mediafans (with special reference to devotees of Dr Who and original Star Trek), and furries.
