Pirate Ship Floorplans?

Where can I get hold of Floorplans for a Galleon-style Pirate ship?

I need some idea of the layout for an oceanic WFRP scenario I have in mind.

Thanks in advance

Re: Pirate Ship Floorplans?

They look like pretty much any other ship, only full of pirates.

Do a search for the National Maritime Museum, buy deck plans. Pirates used whatever ships were handy, including canoes.

Re: Pirate Ship Floorplans?

I recently did a lot of research for this for my Conan game (Pirate Isles not having been released yet).

A range of ready-to-print deckplans including the Rowboat, Barge, Lifeboat, Fishing Boat, Fleur Cargo Ship, Voyager Sloop, Orca Trading Ship, High Seas Mercantile Ship, Longship, Hobgoblin Raider, Fury Frigate and Elven Corsair (481 Kb)

The Typhoon Fast Galleon (288 Kb)

Including the Victory War Galleon, Devastation War Galley and Devourer Great Galley (372 Kb)

Leviathan Battleship, Warspite Siege Ship and Sovereign Ship (225 Kb)

Full deck plans of the ships of war (3.12 Mb)

The old AD&D module "Ship of Horror" is available as a free download from WotC but the old edition download link isn't working at the moment.

Master Plans for $8.00

Re: Pirate Ship Floorplans?

To get the look right for Warhammer, I reckon you need to be looking at ship from Henry VIII's navy, like the Mary Rose.

http://www.maryrose.org/

Theres a 3d model thing at

http://www.maryrose.org/explore/modelguide.htm

if you can be arsed to download it. (And actually you should, cause its quite instructive. Note the cooking bits right in the bottom there frex)

The MR there would be an Imperial Greatship though.

But a small one, since I reckon the Empire can manage far bigger ships.

So on

http://www.thabebanss.qld.edu.au/stu...ailgallery.htm

you want to be looking at Caravels or Carracks or Early Galleons (the Bretonnians should be driving Cogs to keep with their look, but its not all bad as some can look a lot hipper than those).

I don't think it would be entirely out of character for an enterprising PC to build the first race built galleon, which chops the fore and stern castles off, lengthens the hull, uses the wieght save from the lack of castles to pack in more guns and uses its superior sailing ability to stand off and pound the bad guys from a distance.

As used by the English against the Spanish Armada.

So look up the Revenge and use her as your hero ship.

Re: Pirate Ship Floorplans?

And get a copy of this book:

http://www.clarebooks.co.uk/item4054.htm

And look at everything before page 136.

And look at Galleases, sorta rowing sailing hybrids, as they are the Empire wolfships that control the Reik and other large rivers where there is no room to sail (and no large waves).

In warhammer anyway.

Re: Pirate Ship Floorplans?

Last time this topic came up, there was a link to a HeroQuest (as opposed to Heroquest) fansite with some right pretty colour maps including, yes, a ship.

Here's the thread!

And in one of those rare happy moments, the fansite is still alive a year later! And here it is!
