[RPG]: Mean Streets, reviewed by Dan Davenport (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9131.phtml

Dan Davenport's Summary:

A film noir RPG that's a bit heavier on style than substance, but a great deal for the price.

The layout is extremely clear, making good use of shaded sidebars and restrained use of art. (Well, aside from the cut-and-paste job mentioned above, and one instance of a 3-1/2" x 3-3/4" square set aside for
a small XPG logo.) The book lacks an index, but given its small size, I didn’t really miss it.
-------------

I've been told by Mark Bruno that all of these issues have been addressed. The picture placement issues resulted from the use of two different versions of Acrobat, and were supposed to be of a 1943 actor and a safe-cracker, respectively. Customers have been issued corrected pages. Also, the book now has an index.

Kudos, guys!

My idea of a Review

This is the first review which actually held my attention long enough to read the entire stylized introduction. Great Job. And it didn't stop there. The objectiveness of the review was a breath of fresh air too.

Thanks very much, Brett! I'm glad the intro worked for you -- it was a bit of a departure from my usual style that the subject matter just kinda brought out.

And objectivity is my #1 goal for every review, so I couldn't ask for any higher praise.

Just a "me-too" plug
Beautiful intro, and a comprehensive analysis. Great job.

Re: [RPG]: Mean Streets, reviewed by Dan Davenport (4/4)

This is an old review, but I just came across it and I wanted to say just how thankful I am to Dan for this sort of excellent review. I find it very helpful, it tells me exactly what I need to know about a book.
