Does the climactic battle, in your opinion, provide enough opportunites for character choice and role play? Or are the PCs simply bystanders at a clash of mighty NPCs. We know that the Sartarites win the battle. Do the authors suggest way to provide other kinds of suspense within the pre-determined (and well known) story arc?

The Battle of Iceland is, in my opinion, a landmark in adventure design - never have I seen in an RPG a scenario where the playere participate in such world shaking event, roleplaying through this crucial and hectic battle. The PC´s get plenty of options of what to do although (and correctly in my veiw) the events of the battle (one long hectic evtended contset) can sweep them up and take them with it (tho not just leaving them standing at the side). I personally was blown away by this scenario and view it as a mastyerpeice of RPG design...

Why boost the cost with - what you call - 'normal' binding when staples will do? What would you like? Calf leather and perfect binding with gold-leaf edges?
This is a small-press company, not Wotc. If this form of binding (and it seems perfectly acceptable to me) holds the book together and does the job, what's the problem?

While the PC's will almost definately be involved in the Battle, and the Sartarite will win it, their actions can decide a lot of stuff. Certain powerful NPC's will die unless the PC's save them. The battle itself has options in case the PC's win in an area where the script says the Sartarites are pushed back. It's pretty well done, in my opinion. And there is enough time between events that overall, any railroading will not be evident, if the GM puts any thought into it.

Properly stapled books are bound better than cheap, "perfect" binding that starts to crack and shed pages as soon as you try to lay them flat on a table while you copy information out...

Why wear normal clothes when a ratty 7 year old t-shirt and ketchup stained cutoff jeans will do? Because the packaging affects what people think of the contents, that's why.
