http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9272.phtml

David Plank's Summary:

A suprisingly relaxed real-time card game.

I agree - great game

The only thing in your review I would disagree with is the game length. With scoring, it's closer to five minutes.

We usually play three rounds {one small asteroid; two small asteroids; one big asteroid} and add up the scores. For the one big asteroid configuration, we set them slightly apart:

Ok, I'm sold!

This sounds like a winner!

As far as resolving the deadlock situation goes, would it make sense to have any kind of system to force someone to go, or does the "guessing game" work out okay?

(For instance, you could play rock-paper-scissors.)

Deadlock never happened in our games. The incentive is to that, once you've placed your last ship in a "good" spot, the round ends and your opponent's can't play their ships.

Great game, enjoyed the review!

Light Speed vs. Lightspeed

I was confused for a moment, until I realized the review was about the Cheap Ass Game "Light Speed" (note the space) as opposed to my RPG "Lightspeed" or the old videogame "Lightspeed". Note that none of the above games are related.

Just wanted to clarify.

We had the deadlock happen a few times, but it always worked out, so it wasn't that big a problem.

It's actually quite tense, waiting to see who will crack first and just play their ship, quickly going for the next one.

Like I said, it's anot a big problem; just one I thought worth mentioning.
