[Card Game]: The Testimony of Jacob Hollow, reviewed by Stephen Tassie (5/3)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9492.phtml

Stephen Tassie's Summary:

This is a mood-filled game that will really appeal to Cthulhu fans. The game play is good, but with a little more development it could have been great!

Needed clearer rules

Converted from Phorums BB System

I tried the game after purchasing it at KublaCon. It really needs more concise rules. A card game should be played after reading maybe 5 minutes, or following step-by-step instructions (barring Magic, etc., type games).

We though the atmsosphere was great, and the ability to continue playing even after you character died was a nice bit.

Bad bits are investigation rules, and the movement rules. Your character is at the location that is in front of the player. Does that mean that when I move to another players location that I get the card? How will that other character keep track of his investigation points? Do I have to go through the encounter on the card, or was it "defeated" by the previous character?

Too many playing problems. We nodded, and put it on the high shelf next to other nice concept, lousy play games. We then broke out my ancient copy of Creatues & Cultists.
