[RPG]: Tri-Stat dX Core System Role-Playing Game, reviewed by Emily K. Dresner-Thornber (2/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9548.phtml

Emily K. Dresner-Thornber's Summary:

This intriguing free document from Guardians of Order provides a toolbox for the enterprising game master or the prospective third-party game author. Interesting for the rules master, but daunting for the newbie and neophyte to Tri-Stat.

Converted from Phorums BB System

Nice review, Emily. And thank you, thank you, thank you for not calling LEGO bricks "legos" like every other person in America.

By the way, I picked up a copy of the print version at GenCon for a buck. It's as you can imagine exactly the same as your Kinkos version, only it's been bound like a softcover book. Same tool-like interior.

Cheers,
Cam

Nice analogy. Of course with lego with enough imagination you can make anything, it just requires a little extra thought, but equipment for various genres would have taken up extra space. I would rather have an uncomplete EQ list and make it up myself than have a huge one which I only use 10% of.

To continue the Lego analogy. I see the Tri-Stat dX system as a small box of LEGO blocks that are very versatile. A system like GURPS is a much larger box, bordering on the size of a trunk, and the pieces are less customizable. With Tri-Stat you can do anything in any system, it's just an issue of "Some Assembly Required"

For a free system I'm not complaining.
