No you didn't :-). It says Style 4 / Substance 4. So which set of numbers do you mean? 5/3 or 4/4? Either way, you can contact reviews@rpg.net (or write a post in Trouble Tickets) and ask to correct it.

Just As Relevant Today...

...given the current state of our government. I really enjoyed this game and wouldn't mind seeing it re-issued. It's amazing how some of the 'tudes and other assorted mayhem bear a disturbing resemblance to the present reality.

When im trying to explain how the Computer works, I tend to describe it as the Bush/Ashcroft administration taken to its fullest (il)logical course.

Most people then fully understand what im talking about.

The Players did my dirty work for me...

Whenever I GM'd, I found that all one really needs to do is give the players the slightest bit of a mission, deadly tools and a mere slip of a reason to go after one another and they did so gleefully.

I sat back and occasinally intruded in as the computer to stir the pot even more or to take PCs down a peg, but the players provided the majority of my entertainment.

My favourite mission was sending them after a commie mutant in the sewers, letting them find treasonous material that had been flushed and then turning the lights out. The game ended with one of them throwing what he thought was an HE grenade to get the mutant. It turned out to be a mini nuke instead and destroyed three levels above and below the sewere system. The fun I had handing promoting them to Violet for stopping a dangerous traitor and then awarding them enough posthumous treason points for destruction of computer property to kill all but their last clones (who were sentenced to work in the food vats until they paid of the damage).

Thanks for pointing that out. My first review to this site, there had to be something wrong right? 5 and 3 are correct. Will get it fixed at some stage early next week.

You wouldn't be suggesting that there's been a Computer mistake, would you, friend Citizen?

You are charged under the USA PATRIOT ACT. Your neighbors now have a right to shoot you on the spot. Have a nice day.

'What does the rating say, Winston?

'Four/Four.'

'And if the party says that it is not four/four but five/three -- then what?'

'Four/Four.'

The word ended in a gasp of pain. The needle of the dial had shot up to fifty-five. The sweat had sprung out all over Winston's body. The air tore into his lungs and issued again in deep groans which even by clenching his teeth he could not stop. O'Brien watched him. He drew back the lever ...

"You are a slow learner, Winston," said O'Brien gently.

Ah, sweet memories!

I still remember being the Great High UV Programmer Who Makes Clones Bark Like A Dog-clone for the first time. Only one of the other players had ever played Paranoia before and he proved an invaluable aid.

The group actually got to and through their mission briefing with minimal loss of life (only 1 or 2 clones, iirc) and then they were informed they needed to report to R&C.

"R&D?!?" asked the Veteran Gamer.

The other players looked confused at his consternation.

At that point, VetGamer signalled putting his laser to his head, pulling the trigger.

BLAM -- one less clone.

"Why did you do that?" asked the others.

"Quicker and less painful..."

After that, the TRUTH of Paranoia crept into the game:

Stay Alert!
Trust No One!
Keep Your Laser Handy!

Have a nice daycycle, citizens
