A request...

The next time you review a d20 product, please say "d20" somewhere in the review, preferably in the summary. That way, those of us expecting a review of a new RPG, not a d20 supplement, don't have to puzzle it out. (The mention of prestige classes was what finally made it clear for me.) -- Pteryx

Are there any good, non-d20 Pirate games (not including 7th Sea?)

I don't know of any, per se, but then again a "good pirate game" can cover a lot of territory.

Does one wish cinematic piracy, a la Errol Flynn and The Prirates of the Carribean? Or does one wish a "realistic" pirate game, where death is more common and most treasure is gotten on land rather than at sea?

Ah, the basic dichotomy of pirate games

But once again, I think there are a lot of systems out there that /could/ be adapted for piracy (GURPS, Rolemaster, Over the Edge, Pendragon, Tri Stat); it's mainly a matter of taste and work.

actually, Deep 7 do 2 versions of Bloode Island - the 1pg quick-playing version, and the XPG version which is a larger game at double the price, meaning that you pay (gasp!) $7.95 instead of $3.95 ... the rpgnet review was of the latter...
