Good enough for non-d20 fans?

Converted from Phorums BB System

Very good review, by the way.

Since I'm not keen on 'Sell me' threads, I'll pose my question here. I'm not really a D&D/d20 fan; I do have the core books, but the system is too tactically oriented for me, and the default setting too bland.

But your review and the general buzz has me intrigued by Oathbound. It sounds vaguely Planescape-inspired, and I love Planescape. Would it be worth getting, whether to play as a straight D20 game, raid for ideas for other games or just to read?

This is a very late responce, but at the moment I am gettting a group together to play in OB using a stripped down version of Alternity (using some of the fantasy rules by Red Dragon at alternity.net).

I love the basic idea of OB and am allowing the players to chose races from just about anywhere (rpgs, novels, movies and such).
