[RPG]: Fistful o' Zombies, reviewed by Dan Davenport (5/5)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9663.phtml

Dan Davenport's Summary:

Like Enter the Zombie, it's successful as a Unisystem genre sourcebook as well as a genre-meets-zombies sourcebook. For a different sort of Weird West from Deadlands honcho Shane Hensley, give it a try.

Magic in EtZ clarification

Dan,

Excellant review (as always). Just wanted to clarify that the simple magic system in Enter the Zombie is not NPC only. Players can use it as well. It states that "most" players would not use it, since they tend to be martial artist/gun user types.

I verified this with Alex, since I was writing a deadworld that involved Magic Using player types, and had to clarify a few things. Just an FYI

Ah... You're absolutely correct. I'd forgotten that with the spells being treated as skills, there's nothing stopping PCs from buying them. Just another example of how wonderfully useful EtZ really is.

Glad you liked the review!

Yeah, it's quite useful (though it could use more material <grin>

I always enjoy your reviews of Eden products. They are all well thought out, and provide detail on both positive and negative points from your perspective. I find them to be very informative, and sometimes find things I missed myself when going through the books

"The name's Davenport. I review games."

"Hi, Davenport. Shut the f*** up and review the game, would you?"

Very nice, James. Funny how you suddenly got the itch to dig up one of my old reviews and crap on it right after I questioned you regarding a couple of your own reviews -- and a whole lot more politely, I should add (http://www.rpg.net/forums/phorum/rf08/read.php?f=2313&i=1&loc=0&t=1). I can't imagine why a classy guy like you got banned from the forums...

I was looking for a review of FoZ and found myself thinking "I hope Davenport did the review" - needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. Great job - for whatever reason (probably pure talent) your reviews always answer all my questions about what you review. Kudoes again.
