[RPG]: Dying Earth Roleplaying Game, reviewed by Lisa Padol (5/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9765.phtml

Lisa Padol's Summary:

True to the source material, gorgeously laid out, and fun to read. It may be too eccentric for some, but it serves as a nice break from the usual sort of rpg.

Dying Earth is great. If you're still on the fence after reading this review, or are havnig trouble visualizing what a game of DE would play like, check out http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53809 for several session write-ups in a continuous campaign.

Good review

I did a review some time back and thought this was an interesting game, more so in concept that implementation. Not that it is a bad game but it requires all players to buy off on an engine that really requires more roleplaying than normal.

A top notch review.

I don't disagree at all - but the irony of this makes me chuckle, in a Vancian kind of way.

Trumps

I'd like to note that the tables of which style trumps (and is trumped by) the other styles is available in the core rule book. Persuade/Rebuff styles are displayed on the lower left corner of page 40 and Attack/Defense style are on the lower left corner of page 46.

You don't need to download the appendices in order to get this information.

Character Sheet with Trumps

Following the game's release I stumbled across a fan-made version of the character sheet which includes the Trump/Trumped table at the expense of Manse/Sandestin info. It looks superior to the downloadable version from Pelgrane. I'll e-mail a copy to anyone that's interested.

All the information is there, yes. But it is not all in one place -- we needed to do a lot of flipping back and forth.
