Unfortunately, they've switched from the metal bases to plastic ones. The price stayed the same, I'm told in an email from the company, because the metal bases could be made in house, but the plastic bases have to be bought from another source. That's my biggest beef against Warlord...I really hate plastic bases, and prefer the weight of metal ones. I've found some really nice figs in this line, however.

Really? I did not know that. I bought a few in this line recently and they were all on metal bases. That would definitely take my review down maybe a notch, given the casting issues with the Warlord line.

Yeah, the plastic ones were definitely an unpleasant surprise. I wonder if they're going to start selling packs of just the metal bases, though, as a new 'option'...

Reaper does sell packs of the metal bases. I've picked up several packs for my heavier figures from other lines. They paint up a lot better than the plastic bases, so I'm pretty disappointed to hear they're going that route with the figures.

Yes they have had a few different minitaures rule sets. There is allegedly one being done for Warlord. Personally I need another fantasy miniatures game like I need a hole in my head, so I just use them for what I play that needs them (D&D and Bladestorm).

--------------------------------
This rumor is true, we are switching the majority of the Warlord line to
plastic bases. Customer feed back after the launch of the line was heavy
against the metal bases. The majority of the complaints were: Paint on base
edges chipped easily, did not like or want the textured tops and did not
like the inability to "choose" a slot to mount the model in. We are
continuing to use metal bases for large models and models that need the
extra weight to keep them steady. The bases are also available by themselves
in blister packs. The price will remain the same on the packs since we now
have to import the bases instead of cast them in house.
