[RPG]: Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game, reviewed by Mike Hughey (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9871.phtml

Mike Hughey's Summary:

An excellent combat system, with a decent RPG attached too. And best of all -- no Van Damme!

But where can i buy a copy?

Post originally by venator rex at 2003-11-24 12:47:59

I have been consitently hearing good things about this RPG and I am a casual Street Fighter II fan (the SNES version was a blast), so I'd love to add this to my bookshelf. However, no one seems to be selling a copy. Is there an online distributor anyone knows of?

Thanks -
V. Rex

Why Not D6

If they are going to use a "roll 6+ on D10" as the mechanic, why not just use "roll 4+ on D6"?

Detailed in a later supplement? YUP!!

There were a number of supplement books for the series written later. I'm not sure how many were written, but I have about four books scavenged from shops here and there. Mentioning what they are would require me digging /deep/ into the vault of my collection, so I'll spare you the details for the moment, but the /Secrets of Shadoloo (sp?)/ book held the numbers for the last three members of the fearsome foursome of bosses, as well as details on their fighting styles and new maneuvers.

Or why not a good old d2, such as a coin?

Because it is a storyteller game, and the die of choice for storyteller is a d10. Also, if the game has some type of open ended aspect to it, the designer might of wanted a 10% chance per die, rather than a 16% chance with a d6.

Street Fighter: The Storytelling Game

Secrets of Shadowloo (contains full stats and info for Vega, Sagat, Bison, Bison's global Shadowloo syndicate, Bison's headquarters, ect.)

Street Fighter Storyteller's Screen (The art on this 4 panel screen is the coolest I've ever seen on a GM's screen. The actual info on the inside isn't that useful but I use this screen for most RPG's just for the art. Comes with an insert containing an adventure as well as some new skills, including ones for making manager PC's)

The Perfect Warrior (a long adventure for the game, very high quality and introduces a new style)

Player's Guide (includes exhaustive new options for creating characters, including cyberware, animal hybrids, a treasure trove for this game)

Contenders (A book packed with great fully fleshed out NPC's that a GM can throw right into games, plus a couple new options)

I can proudly say I own the complete collection, this game is fantastic. If you're a big street fighter buff like me you NEED these books

Those interested in this game should check out a free PDF game named 'Thrash' that (according to its own words) "is heavily based on the now out-of-print Street Fighter Storytelling Game". There is even a Thrash sourcebook that has Thrash stats for various characters from the Street Fighter game series. You can download Thrash from: http://thrash.blackbird.nu/

Secrets of Shadoloo had my all time favorite skill for the game: SCIENCE! (yess it IS all caps and with an exclamation mark after it).

it covers everything from simple biology to building rocket powered roller skates.

but as Murfey's rules pointed out the average StreetFighter (including the guy in the US military) has no firearms skill...

Living room games is coming out with a new version of this. I'm on the playtest group but have yet to see the game.

I loved playing and writing for this version (WW) and really miss it.
