[RPG]: Musical Mistresses, reviewed by Charles Phipps (3/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/9/9887.phtml

Charles Phipps's Summary:

An enjoyable but bizarre romp into a fantasy game world that takes Sailor Moon's premise, gives it wayyyyy too much caffeine, and releases it on an unexpecting reader. Worth the money for that alone.

I think this is a bit harsh

Given the subjective nature of humor, it's a bit harsh to characterize Douglas' book in quite such severe terms. As the publisher, i thought it was very funny and am very happy with the setting. I only wish more people could pickup the book and make up their own minds....

but thats the thing.

Once at Wizardworld Chicago I was strolling the artits lane. And the makers of an Indy comic got my attention. It was supposed to be a JTHM clone and they said up front "You'll love it. We're really funny."

I stopped, and looked the artist/writer in the eys and said "I'll be the judge of that."

and as it turns out it wasn't funny... At all...

Humor is subjective, which means when you think you wrote something funny, he chances are that it's just you and your friends that think its funny.

And he did give it 7/10, which is pretty good, in my book. I'd pick it up just for those wacky adventures.

There is a time and a place to use 'Whom' instead of 'Who'. You need to work on this.
