Have to agree... a 4 at least. I would rather have decent B&W art like Malhavoc uses (and FFG for that matter) than have a mixture of good and utterly craptastic colour art like WotC has.

Have to agree; this is one of the nicest 3rd party publishing books out there; in fact, I had not picked up any Malhavoc press material (except AU) prior to this book, and now I have all of the Malhavoc line up simply because the Eldritch hardcover hooked me in to it all. Definitely stylish and useful....but I am glad that I didn't pick up the three smaller books before this arrived.

I think one of the positives Malhavoc has going for it is Cooke's support of local game shops. You can't get their books (Or you're not supposed to be able to) discounted online. Yeah, my wallet complains, but I really like to support my local shop.
Thanx for the review...I'm heading over to buy this next week, since I'm a Bard/Sorcerer fiend!

Tell Amazon what? This book is $34.99, plus an additional $1.99 special order price on Amazon, because at the moment, they aren't allowed to keep them in stock. Dunno about other smaller online dealers, it's possible they have the option to offer discounts.

The new cover is nice.
But they use some of the same somewhat bland interior art that appeared in the very rough early PDFs. Some of the new Walpole and Dunning art is nice, but I still don't think it looks as nice as (say) Requiem for a God or Mindscapes.
