The Omvelex reviews seem to be coming at a fast and furious pace. Too fast for what amounts to be nothing more than a PDF product. I wonder if these are real reviews or simply fake reviews to spur some sales.

1) Omlevex is a print book, iirc.

2) This review gives several negatives as well as a breakdown of what one my find in the product.

3) The book hahs been out since the first of March--nearly a month, plenty of time to read and review the product.

RPGSHOP says the product was added on the 9th to their store, that is 20 days of reading.

I don't know about you, but at my reading spead I could have read it cover to cover 20 times by this point.

In short--Arcady's review looks like a review to me, a fair un-biased one at that, since he did mention the historical "errors" as well as criticised the readability due to the image in the text.

Mine is not fake, nor is the book even a PDF.

I bought the book, took a weekend to read it, and then reviewed it.

I have several reviews up on this site.

I:

1. Take insult at you suggesting I am falsifying me review.
2. Believe my record should speak for itself.
3. Believe my review shows sufficient detail to prove I read the book.
4. Do not find it unusual that a person could read a book in a weekend, let along the nearly three weeks it has been since this book appeared on shelves.
5. Find it curious such a claim would be made - given that my review is neither overly positive nor overly negative, but instead comprehensive. CLearly if you read it you'll see a lack of an 'agenda' other than my final recommendation of the product.

Uhm...Omlevex is a *print* product, which has been out for a few weeks. I know Arcady personally, and I know he bought the product at full price in our local game store, read it, and reviewed it. He is also a very active prescence on the M&M boards, and his understanding of the mechanics of the game is extraordinary.

Doing some research before posting avoids embarassing errors, especially when casting aspersions on longstanding community members.

Anyone who knows me will tell you two things about me.

1) I tend to be a very even-tempered person who's difficult to offend.

2) I do not engage in unethical practices such as writing reviews for products I'm involved with or "plant" folks to write positive reviews.

That said, your insinuation deeply offends me.

We worked long and hard to make Omlevex a high-quality product. We take a lot of pride in that and couldn't be more proud of how well Omlevex has been received by those who have read it. As such, we would not stoop to the lows that you seem to think we would. Why WOULD we when (if you read any posts on various forums) Omlevex has garnered a great deal of praise.

Also, it's clear that you didn't read the review. Otherwise you'd know that Omlevex is not a PDF. But even it it was, that wouldn't be a reason to dismiss it as "what amounts to be nothing more than a PDF product". There are some very well done PDFs out there.

The first sentence of my review says "Omlevex gives us our first print M&M Superlink product" so go figure.

in my dealings with Cynthia and her company I have never found eitehr to be dublicitous or anything but forthright.

as a manufacturer myself I frequently send out promos for review purposes and am insulted that anyone would believe taht this review specifically was fraudulant.

Arcady,

I really appreciate yoir review of Omlevex. Very comprehensive. I'll respond point by point wherever necessary.

OMELET
Grrrrrrrr! ;0P

U.S. TERRITORY
In the review, you stated, "Another point of confusion for me was the listing of 1910 as the year that Metazon become a US Territory, but in the history before that only one of it's islands was ever said to have seceded from the US to begin with."

The rest of Metazon was not a part of the U.S. at all prior to 1910. At that point, it became an official territory. That includes West Metazon.

MAP CLARITY
We plan to post the colored map on the site as a PDF. As such, it will be a parmanent fixture.

MREs
Ermm... well, you see, Scratch brought MREs back from the future and... ummm... he thought it would be fun to introduce them during the '60s and....

Okay, okay, we screwed up. ;0)

GEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND METAZON
In the review, you said, "The Metazon Islands are huge - larger than anything in the Caribbean - and where they exist would dramatically change the weather on the south east coast of the US."

Anyway, in the real world, yes. You're absolutely correct. However, the comic companies in the 1960s never even considered such things. And since we were emulating that approach, we didn't either.

Of course, as we release sourcebooks for the later eras (sales permitting), don't be surprised if we go a bit into that.

JONAH
For all you folks reading this review, heed Arcady's advice -- use Jonah with extreme caution. I know of players who literally cringe when I mention his name, though they're always anxious to play in an adventure that involves him.

OMLEVEX SYSTEMS
You stated, "The second entry is the designer's notes - the normal thing where we learn what drove this product and what care went into it. Of note here is that the campaign universe is 15 years old - having been used by the author for her games since 1989. What was missing here that I was personally curious about was what gaming system it was originally under."

I think a better question would've been "What gaming system WASN'T it under?"

Seriously though, we have used numerous systems for Omlevex over the years -- Marvel Superheroes, DC Heroes, Champions (4th edition), GURPS Supers, Marvel SAGA and even a homebrew system or two that we intended to publish.

I eventually settled with M&M, as it does everything I want a superhero RPG to do.

I've had Omlevex for almost two weeks and there is no reason to doubt Arcady's review. The specific comments prove that and your criticism and accusation are more applicable to your own post.
