[RPG]: Grimm: Adventures in a world of twisted fairy tales., reviewed by migo (5/5)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/10/10318.phtml

Robin Ashe's Summary:

Grimm puts the characters as children in a twisted fairy tale land. It's well written and has a fairly unique concept. I'd recomend it to anyone who is even remotely interested in this type of game.

Stardust

Sounds very intriguing.

It also sounds reminiscent of Neil Gaiman's 'Stardust' which has a young protagonist heading into the world of fairy tales and being pursued by some grim and nasty adversaries. I'd recommend 'Stardust' for plot ideas; ditto Robert Holdstock's 'Mythago Wood' sequence, which has a unique take on myths and how they encroach on reality.

Yeah, it does sound like what you describe in Stardust. I've never seen that before but I'm certainly going to see if I can track that down.

This was an excellent review; a perfect blend of facts and opinions. I have this already and it does look very cool, as do all the other titles in FFG's Horizon line - a great concept all round.

Thankyou. I'm glad the rest of the horizon line looks as good. Some of my friends have Spellslinger and Virtual and with my brief glance they looked good.

FFG really impresses me as a game company - IU have been a fan ever since Blue Planet came out. I really like Grimm (though would prefer just to use the setting and rip the system out of Little Fears) and Virtual, and will definitely be taking a look at any further OGL stuff they put out.

I am aware that FFG have a license to make games based on G.R.R. Martin's Westeros novels - I have seen a CCG and a board game - any plans for an RPG?

I haven't heard anything about the RPG License, but if they think they can make a profit off of it I'm sure they'll do it.

Guardians of Order (publishers of BESM) have the rights for the Westeros RPG. AFAIK, they're going to publish both Tr-Stat (wohoo!) and d20 (blergh!) corebooks, both black-and-white, and a deluxe, color, dual-system corebook.

You sure about that? I haven't seen an announcement of that sort on their website, but maybe I just missed it.
