But how does it. . .

Hold up when compared to the universe background established in non-gaming materials such as. . .

The movies?

The novels and various dictionaries and encyclopedias?

The background presented in other RPG books?

The comics?

These can be important consideration for some. Or, as you hinted, is the material presented vague and generic to the point of bordering on being non-specific?

Good review otherwise, if a bit too short.

Sorry for the late reply. The book essentially paints broad strokes - a lot of the worlds covered are not seen in any of the other resources mentioned - and those that are essentially elaborate on the general information. What makes the book unique are the character histories of all the major players on each world, and special rules for various interest points, including maps of certain locations.

For example, Kamino gets a write up of the various sea creatures that reside under the ocean's surface. Bespin has a map of another floating platform that contains a casino...

The idea is that there is plenty of basic information for a group of star-spanning adventurers to get themselves caught up in.
