Well done. Now I won't have to write a review.
The one thing I found notable about the books was the continuity in them. Where as the Conan stories often had little bearing on one another, there was far more referencing between the Soloman Kane stories, creating more of a story arc.

For those who may be interested by gaming in the savage world of Solomon Kane, I've written a short, free RPG on the subject. It is available (along with two supplements at :
http://solomonkane.free.fr
Unfortunatelt, it is written in French.
I've had serious thoughts about translating it in English but that project would require the help of a "native" english-speaker - to check grammar etc. Anyone interested, perchance ?

Agreed, wonderful review. I do have the, uhm, cheap paperback collection of the Kane story (along with most of that earlier Howard collection series), but you've definitely ignited a desire in my breast for this new collection. I also loved your analysis of the Kane stories. Technically, you could have used another read-through and proofing before submission, but apart from that, excellent work and an inspiration for others.

Cheers, Daren; appreciate the comments. Given your stacks of reviews, I’ll take the compliment.
I’m playing around with a couple of other ideas for reviews, but my brain moves slowly these days as my infant daughter has drained it of its vital essences through sleep deprivation . I might do Wagner’s Kane books though, just to keep the “Kane” vibe.

Thanks. I’m frequently against special, fancy editions, which frequently just pile on junk and up the price. But this edition is the real deal of how such a thing should be done. I wish it had an essay comparable to that in The Coming of Conan, but otherwise I thought it was a resounding success (obviously).

Cheers. I’m always appalled when I finally look at something I’ve written—no matter how many times I’ve tried to edit, I always seem to have missed most of the errors. Apparently, this ability is proff even against SpellChecks. Ah well.
I myself have a great fondness for old, cheap, mass-market paperbacks. Particularly of sword & sorcery works. It’s a holdover from when I began reading and all of the books that I loved had the yellow binding with the big, red “DAW Books” on the side. So I’m not usually so keen on these new editions. But, I think that this one is a winner and done the way it should be done.
