It's OGL because the game is complete! A d20-game by definition is incomplete.
The d20-license states that, if you use the d20-icon, you can't include character-creation and character advancement AND you have to state that the D&D-playershandbook is needed.
Really, the whole d20-licence-thing is just about the use of the icon, that's all.

Yes, I understand the difference in the licenses quite well, but when you've obviously stayed close to D20 with the game, going for the D20 icon, might be worth it (unless their license doesn't allow that).
At least that's what fans of D&D/d20 have persistently said about the difference in sales to me.
I much prefer OGL games myself, I like complete games that dont' require me to access a game I don't like fundamentally--but its just an odd decision (compared to Babylon 5 which is D20 and yet has quite a few more difference in design--armor, hp progression, etc.)

Thanks for the review, Sid! You touched on a lot of aspects of the game, all of which sound pretty interesting to me.
One thing, though: could you say a bit more about the creatures in the bestiary? I'd have preferred some more information there and less, perhaps, about the adventure.
