[Board/Tactical Game]: Dracula's Revenge, reviewed by Tom Vasel (4/3)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/10/10803.phtml

Tom Vasel's Summary:

I don't know of any other Gothic miniature-type games. This one works well - not necessarily the greatest strategy - but it's fun and quick.

Thank you for the review! As the new head of Human Head's Adventure Game Division (the designer of DRACULA'S REVENGE), I've been absorbing a lot of feedback regarding the game and using it to guide the design of FRANKENSTEIN'S CHILDREN, the next game in the GOTHICA line.

Our aim with FRANKENSTEIN'S CHILDREN is to add more player control to scenario creation, new multiplayer and tournament rules, and to clarify the rulebook. Overall, we're looking to open the game up for people, allowing scalability in strategy while retaining the line's approachibility to new gamers.

Thanks again for buying the game, playing the game, and taking the time to let others know what you thought of it!

Best,

Jason L Blair

Actually...

There is another, and somewhat older, gothic-themed horror miniatures game. That's the Gothic Horror line from Westwind Publishing.

They've got a great line of miniatures, with lots of personality and uniqueness. The rules, however, are a bit clunky. In some ways, Westwind reminds me of Palladium games. They've got one guy who writes most of the rule sets they sell, and the engine behind them is pretty much the same. So there's a lot of cut-and-paste in the text, with the accompanying tendency to leave in bits of junk from other sets.

I just wanted to point out that the game you reviewed does not exist in a vacuum.

I'd just like to point out that Dracula's Revenge is a board game, NOT a miniatures game as you state.
