Shannon Appelcline's Summary:

A superbly designed and produced abstract strategy game. One of my favorites of the year.

Good review - try Pueblo!

Thanks for the great review, as usual Shannon. I just added Rumis to my Christmas list.

I must give the highest recommendation for you to try Pueblo. It has a few similar elements to Rumis, but with the added tactical element of the moving the Peeping Tom circling the structure. Its production values are exceptional, and while it's priced higher than Rumis (Ravensburger levels), it's still fabulous for its cost.

Cheers,
Fawkes

Nice review, Shannon. I second the recommendation of Pueblo. Rumis sounds very close, with the added twist of having to build adjacent to your previously completed builds. From your review I suspect that Rumis is the faster to play, which makes it an attractive alternative. Pueblo does have the great tension of the moving overseer piece and the bowbing possibilities it provides.

Um, he does mention it, under "relationship to other games".

A great review (and an addition to my Christmas list). Thanks for taking the time to do these.

Yep, 15-30 minutes.

From everything that I've read Rumis is a simpler game and Pueblo a more complex one. There's still plenty of strategic depth in Rumis, however.
