[RPG]: Star Thugs, reviewed by mxyzplk (3/5)

Ernest Mueller's Summary:

Star Thugs is a hilarious and unorthodox interstellar romp, written in the vein of Paranoia or Tales from the Floating Vagabond.

I've been thinking of getting this - maybe now I will.

Looking at the website, I see that character disadvantages are called "GM Treats" in this system. Heh.

My Sentiments Exactly

I really liked this game, but they need a designer and an illustrator, and they need them badly. I thought the rules were a little incomplete, but I did really enjoy reading this book. It is one of my favorite RPG books to read.

You mentioned the rules, but I didnt see anything about character generation. How does it work? Is it point based or Random?

For generating your ship's captain, it's a 25 point build system, from which you buy stats, skills, maneuvers, etc. Reminiscient of Tri-Stat, though smaller scale.

The previous rpg.net review of ST and going and reading the samples on their Web site is what sold me...

I'll second that. This book just "clicks."
