[RPG]: Star Warriors, reviewed by Kravell (4/4)

http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/11/11250.phtml

Charlie Dunwoody's Summary:

Space combat in Star Warriors should run like dogfighting in space--fast and furious. Quick start characters. Solid setting and great GMing advice.

Thanks for the Review!

I'm glad you found the book useful. Like "Metal Wars", I was hoping this would work not just as a setting book but as an aid for playing CAH games in a particular genre.

Regarding the art, Cynthia and I were both part of a Yahoo Group where the artists would show their preliminary pencil work for each drawing, so we could sign off on particular bits to make sure it was consistent. I was glad to have that opportunity, and I'm pleased with how it came out.

I must confess, though, when I saw the "Page XX" reference, I felt a certain pride- like I knew I'd actually written a game book at that point.

That page XX reference, btw, has been fixed. ;-)

Thanks for the review, Charlie -- I had fun working on Star Warriors, and I'm pleased you like it.

Cheers,
Adam

Thanks for the honest and fair review.

I'd like to clarify that Evan Waters wrote the majority of the text found in the book.

Objective, balanced, with strong and weak points highlighted. Good work!

To break it down, I did mostly setting, with Cynthia and Eddy handling the rules bits (such as adapting the space combat rules, which were originally printed in AFTER THESE MESSAGES #1). The Player's Guide chapter is all them, I did most of the rest.

Good review, it has made me interested in checking out CAH ( Which until now I had not even given a second glance) and pick up this setting for it.

Both of you are welcome. Star Warriors is rare in that it was as fun to read (unlike some rulebooks) as it looks like to play. A great deal for the price. The care you took in producing it shows.

Thanks for clearing that up. While who wrote what didn't affect my review I was curious. Quality matters and I'll be eagerly looking for more products from all of you.

Thanks! This review was my first both here at RPG.net and for a roleplaying game (I reviewed a Dean Koontz book many years ago for a college magazine). I read many fine reviews here and responses to get an idea of what to cover.
