An error in my review: "Divination Provides" is not actually the name of the spell. The name of the spell is "Divination," and there's a misplaced colon which makes it look like "Divination Provides." There are a few of those.

Well done!
i have been trying to decide whether to go with the old school feel of C&C or stick with what my group knows and run a fantasy campaign using Savage Worlds. Since i favor classic fantasy and simple systems, your review was very helpful.

Good review
I got a good laught out of the review as well as some usefull info.
I know that C&C is not for me, a good thing -- and that phrase "I am sure Conan could lift six hundred pounds even if it was 500 pounds of writhing stygian gerbils with ahundred pound whore in the middle" is an instant classic

On the Troll Lord forums, we've spent some time compiling all the known errata as well as adding new errata when it's found. Updated constantly, it can be found at http://goreanmale.homestead.com/files/errata.pdf . I would recommend that new owners download this errata instead of the one on the Castles & Crusades web site, as within are significant fixes that are not present in the errata on the Castles & Crusades web page.
The Trolls have been working overtime on proofreading for Monsters & Treasures, to avoid the problems that occurred with the Player's Handbook. It should be well worth it when the time comes.

Not a good review, a great one, one of the best I've read on rpg.net.
I think RPG grognards have to go back to the seventies, but based on the great review I'll dub you one anyway for mentioning both Erol Otus and Professor Tucker's "Tractics" game. Gygax used to beat Tucker's ass every week at chess, incidentally. Tucker kept making up variant rules and Gygax would beat him at his own chess variants until Tucker finally stopped meeting with him in disgust.
C&C is the best version of D&D currently in print. There are many things to quibble about in the rules, but they're only quibbles, and if you've put in the time with other versions they're easily adjustible in accordance with personal taste.

This is a great review -- it conveys a lot of (generally very accurate) information about the product, and is fun to read.
Some quick comments:
(a.) The 'little dragons' on the cover are wyverns.
(b.) The classes are organized in order of their prime attributes (the 'strength' classes are listed first, etc.).
(c.) The encumbrance system is indeed a disaster. I would advise all players to just ignore it.
(d.) I personally wish that C&C had tried to use a unified experience progression system. TLG promises that there is an underlying 'rationale' for their experience charts, but they have yet to reveal any details.
(e.) Your comments about wisdom reminded me that I think that a game like C&C (and D&D, for that matter) should introduce a distinct 'perception' ability score.
(f.) TLG has apparently hired a 'real' editor for future products, as well as the 2nd printing of the PHB. So hopefully the painfully dreadful editing job in the first printing will not be repeated in the future (and will someday yield nice profits on e-bay for those who purchased multiple copies of the classic 'flawed' first printing).

It is a great review.
I'm glad to hear that future supplements will be better edited and that there's going to be a 2nd printing of the PHB that will be cleaned up - but that means I'm going to wait and sit on my $20 until there is a second printing. I'm also looking forward to see what the rest of the rules look like before I buy them.
